About

Welcome to Laker Fan Hockey!

I write about women's hockey. My focus is on NCAA Division I, National Teams and current events in hockey. Mercyhurst and the CHA (College Hockey America) are the focus of a lot of my writing, in addition to reflections about my personal experiences as a hockey player and fan.

My motivation for writing this blog comes from my curiosity about hockey, passion for writing, and desire for women's hockey to have more visibility.

When I graduated from Mercyhurst and college hockey in 2005 it didn't occur to me that women's hockey fandom was a natural next step. I followed women's hockey casually, but became a super fan after the Women's World Championship in 2017.

What changed things for me was realizing the games were accessible on streams and sometimes on TV, and learning coverage existed online at places like The Ice Garden, Victory Press, and Pension Plan Puppets (Women's Hockey Wednesday).

Now I am totally hooked, and love being a women's hockey fan.

Lastly, I'm a Canadian ex-pat, live in the Cleveland area with my husband, daughter and son. In addition to family, hockey and writing, I enjoy reading, and exploring the Cleveland area with my husband and kids.

Thanks for reading!
